Job Overview:
We are looking for a Finance & Accounting Intern to support our financial operations. This role is ideal for a motivated individual who is pursuing their CPA certification and is passionate about financial management and compliance. The intern will be responsible for handling financial documentation, ensuring compliance with regulations, verifying receipts, developing a supplier database, designing financial best practices for the school, and tracking tuition fee payments from parents. Additionally, the intern will prepare a succession plan and document processes to ensure a smooth transition for future finance staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain financial documents, including income statements, expense reports, and financial records.
• Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and supported by receipts.
• Assist in preparing financial reports for compliance and audits.
• Monitor and track expenses to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.
• Work with online accounting tools to manage financial data (as Skylon Schools does not use in-house accounting software).
• Support payroll preparation and processing.
• Assist in filing and organizing financial records for easy access and audits.
• Ensure compliance with local financial and tax regulations.
• Collaborate with the administrative team on financial planning and budgeting.
• Create and enrich a supplier database to support the school’s upcoming activities.
• Follow up on tuition fees from parents and track outstanding payments.
• Design an Excel file for tracking tuition payments and outstanding balances.
• Design and document best practices for the school's finance and accounting processes.
• Develop a succession plan and prepare handover documents for future finance staff.

•Following the ethical and deontological principles required in the accounting profession.

•Ensuring that every financial transaction is properly documented and justified.
•Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding financial and school-related matters.
•Upholding a zero-tolerance policy for fraud, theft, or any financial misconduct.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (or currently pursuing) in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Progress toward CPA certification (not required to have CPA Final level yet).
• Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting standards.
• Proficiency in using online accounting tools and spreadsheets (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets).
• High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
• Strong ethical standards and integrity in handling financial information.
• Experience in supplier management or procurement is a plus.
• Ability to document financial processes and prepare transition plans.
• Strong communication and follow-up skills to engage with parents regarding tuition payments.
